L'orthographe, entre phonographie et sémiographie

Abstract
Depuis quelques années déjà, les travaux linguistiques s’accordent sur un point, fondamental : les orthographes du monde résultent d’un double processus, phonographique et sémiographique. Après un exposé succinct de la genèse de ces deux principes, de leur histoire, deux études de cas sont présentées. La première porte sur l’orthographe du français et la seconde, sur celle du japonais. Ces deux exemples, parce qu’ils relèvent de milieux socio-culturels et linguistiques différents, illustrent ce qui, au-delà des similitudes, fait la spécificité de chaque orthographe.
