Abstract

Philosophy is a fulfilment and not a mere striving. Yet he has certainly not reached it who does not, in his thinking, ever experience the frustration of inability to raise to thought the images that incorporate thought. The scandal of the history of philosophy is not that so many contradictory answers have been given. It is rather that thought has never been able to rise to the point where truly contradictory answers can be held.
