In this chapter we explore whether allowing someone to suffer is morally equivalent to causing suffering. On the basis of the outcome of this answer, we also argue whether people, when capable, have a moral obligation to assist others who are suffering. We look at the specific example in Breaking Bad of Walt allowing Jane to die against him killing Mike. We use the works of Marcus Aurelius to help us determine the moral equivalence of these and other events that occur throughout the series.
